I'm so exhausted this week! It looks like I'll be getting a new sewer pipe for my birthday. I must have been very good this year.
Wei invited us over [this sunday] for a dumpling-making and pool party. She makes the most awesome chinese dumplings of all time. Everytime there is a pot luck at work she makes them and we go nuts for them. She picked just 3 of us to come over and she is going to teach us how to make them ourselves. SO PUMPED!!
The summer storm season has begun and I'm hoping that our shingles hang on tight. I enjoy the change from incessant sunshine and I love the smell of rain. It really does a number on the pool but oh well. What are you gonna do?
I finished The DaVinci Code tonight. I think I was the last person in America to read it. It was very good...and I can definitely see how the movie would be good too (haven't seen it yet). Now I just need to find a book that discusses Dan Brown's historical accuracy vs his creative license. I've never really delved into the "sacred feminine" before but its very interesting. I've been trying to read more books lately...luckily I read fast and can "catch up" on all the popular reads. In the past month I've read The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold (very good), The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd (okay), Freakonomics by Levitt/Dubner (good, need to re-read one chapter) and a few Nicholas Sparks novels (not as good as The Notebook or The Wedding). I feel like I'm forgetting one or two more.
Tomorrow we have a busy day...clean the old apartment, pick up a few things at Ikea, Home Depot, Target, etc. And mentally prepare for the dumplings. yum!
